The
Introduction of Anyang Normal University |

Anyang Normal University is located in Anyang City, one
of the eight ancient Chinese capitals. Anyang Normal University
originated from Zhangdefu Normal Institute in 1908. She
has gone through Normal School of Anyang County, Anyang
Normal School of Pingyuan Province, and Anyang Normal School
of Henan Province. In 1958, Anyang Normal Training School
of Henan Province was established by the approval of the
People’s Government of Henan Province. The State Council
dispatched an official document in which it was named Anyang
Normal Training School in 1978. On April 5, 2000, the school
was upgraded to an undergraduate institution by the approval
of the Ministry of Education.
The university covers an area of
1,637 mu with a floor space of 600,000 square meters. She
has various kinds of laboratories with advanced experiment
equipments and complete instruments, the total value of
which is 80 million yuan. The university library houses
1.78million books.
The university possesses 1,258 staff
workers, and it also engages over 96 experts and scholars
as part-time professors from different universities and
research institutes both home and abroad.
The university is a comprehensive
university with 8 branches of learning: literature, science,
law, engineering, agriculture, history, education and administration.
There are 12 schools, 7 departments, 2 teaching department,
1 teaching center, 1 college in the university, namely Literature
School, Politics and Law School, History and Social Development
School, Foreign Language School, Music School, Art School,
Mathematic Science School, Computer and Information Project
School, Chemical Industry School, Physical Education School,
Resource Surroundings and Tourism School, Adult Education
School; Pedagogy Department, Physical Education Department,
Electronic Information Department, Education Technology
Department, Industrial and Commercial Management Department,
Civil Engineering Department, Economic and Trade Department;
Teaching Department of Ideology and Political Theory, Teaching
Department of Computer for Common learning; Five-year System
Education Center and Humanity and Management College.
Talent training is essential to
the development of the University. Therefore, the University
has focused on teaching quality which has been greatly improved.
According to the comprehensive assessment of Chinese universities
published in China Youth Daily, Anyang Normal University
ranks the 147th among 487 universities in China. It is also
one of the 123 fastest developed universities in China in
2007 .Its influence is becoming much stronger among universities
of this field.
There is an Oracle Bone Science
and Shang Dynasty Cultural Research center, which is a leading
humanity and sociology science research base assigned by
Henan Province Education Office. There are also 20 research
institutes such as Anyang Medical and Chemical Engineering
Technology Research Center, Shang Dynasty Culture Research
Institute and Dong Zuobin Oracle Bone Research Center. Three
academic publications, Yindu Academic Periodic, Anyang Normal
University Journal and Anyang Normal University newspaper,
are published to public in the school.
Academic exchanges with other schools
and institutes are greatly developed and inter-university
relationship has been established with more than 20 well-known
universities in this country. In 2005, the China-Japan Oracle
bone inscription calligraphy exhibition was held here in
cooperation with External Friendship Association and Chinese
Shang Dynasty Cultural Society. In 2006, the university
undertook the mission of national popularizing Chinese language.
Many famous specialists and scholars at home and abroad
were invited to give lectures and 96 specialists were invited
as part-time professors and 10 foreign scholars are teaching
in the university.
In recent years, the university
has gained many a glorious titles, e.g. the civilized unit
at provincial level, advanced collective in education quality
year activity, advanced party committee of ordinary higher
institution of Henan Province, five-excellent party organization
of higher institutions of Henan Province, advanced unit
of student management work, etc.
